The BJP on Friday (May 24, 2025) said the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, must stop asking questions that endanger national security. It accused the Congress MP of making “irresponsible remarks” that aided Pakistan, and undermined the morale of the Indian armed forces.
At a press conference, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said: “The whole world is acknowledging the leadership of our respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi. All the countries are applauding our brave armed forces on the manner in which they taught Pakistan a lesson.”
“While Rahul Gandhi is entitled to his differences with the Prime Minister in a democracy, using derogatory language against the PM and remaining silent when Pakistan’s Parliament cites his statements is deeply concerning. He must now decide whether he stands as a leader of India or a mouthpiece for Pakistan,” said Mr. Bhatia.
‘Irresponsible remarks’
“During crucial operations like Operation Sindoor, Rahul Gandhi irresponsibly raises questions such as ‘how many IAF jets have crashed?’ Even when senior officers like the DGMO and Air Marshal Bharti have clearly stated that we are in a war-like situation and it’s not appropriate to disclose such details, Rahul Gandhi appears more engaged in dialogue with Pakistani leaders,” he said.
Mr. Bhatia said that in a public statement, the Chief Minister of Punjab Province in Pakistan, Maryam Nawaz, admitted that Pakistan suffered significant damage due to India’s actions. “When Pakistan itself admits that our brave armed forces destroyed nine terrorist launch pads and 11 Pakistani airbases, what is Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi doing? If there were any doubts or questions, they could have been raised at the all-party meeting, where the Ministry of External Affairs provides detailed information and Opposition MPs also participate,” said the BJP leader.
Stating that in a democracy, questions and suggestions were welcome, he said such “irresponsible remarks” could not be dismissed as naivety. “When national security, the morale of our armed forces, and the country’s interests are at stake, every statement must be made with utmost care…Rahul Gandhi must stop asking questions that endanger national security,” he said.
