Maharashtra Politics: Senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal took oath as a Minister in the Maharashtra government at the Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar were also present.

After taking the oath as a Minister, Chhagan Bhujbal said, ‘all’s well that ends well.’

“As it is said, ‘everything is well if it ends well’. I have handled every responsibility, from the Home Ministry to everything. Whatever responsibility I’ll be given, that will be alright. It’s the prerogative of the CM…”

Speaking to ANI, Deputy CM Shinde congratulated Chhagan Bhujbal and called him an ‘experienced leader’.

“Chhagan Bhujbal has been a minister earlier also and has led various departments. He is an experienced leader… I congratulate him, and the state government will greatly benefit from his experience,” Shinde said.

Governor C P Radhakrishnan administered the oath to the veteran OBC leader.

Chhagan Bhujbal is the MLA from Yeola in Nashik district and in the past has held key positions as a cabinet minister and served as the Deputy CM.

Chhagan Bhujbal’s Money-Laundering Case

Taking a flashback to Bhujbal’s legal scoop, in January this year, the Supreme Court had dismissed the plea of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) challenging the bail granted to the NCP leader in a money-laundering case. A bench of Justices Abhay S. Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan had also rejected Bhujbal’s plea challenging his arrest in the matter.

According to ANI, the top court, while rejecting Bhujbal’s plea, stated that he was released on bail in 2018, and it was not necessary to examine the legality of his arrest at this stage.

Earlier, the Bombay High Court had granted bail to Bhujbal on May 4, 2018, in the said money-laundering case. According to the ED, the senior NCP Leader had awarded contracts related to construction and development works, including one for the construction of Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi, to a particular firm in return for kickbacks for himself and his family.
