Several days after a ceasefire was enforced between India and Pakistan, the wreckage of a drone was found near the international border in Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar district on Thursday (May 15, 2025). A damaged camera was spotted detached from the unmanned aerial vehicle, which was 5 to 7 feet in length.

The residents of 12A village in the Anupgarh area, who spotted the damaged drone on the Forest department’s land, immediately alerted the police. After the police cordoned off the area, senior officers from the Border Security Force (BSF), Army and Indian Air Force arrived at the spot to examine the object.

The place where the drone was found is situated about 15 km away from the Pakistan border. Additional Superintendent of Police Surendra Kumar said there was no confirmation as yet on whether the aerial vehicle was launched from across the border or had strayed during a military activity.

Mr. Kumar said a special team had been tasked with checking the wreckage for any explosive material. The area was thoroughly examined and a bomb disposal squad was called in as a precautionary measure.

The wreckage was sent for forensic and technical analysis to determine its origin and purpose. The villagers were prohibited from approaching the site in view of the security concerns, while the BSF personnel and police maintained vigil in the area.

Mr. Kumar said a search operation was also conducted in and around the village to find any other suspicious objects. Sriganganagar was among the four border districts in Rajasthan where all-night blackouts were enforced during the recent conflict between India and Pakistan.
