Four men were arrested on Wednesday (May 7, 2025) on charges of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in Erode.

On May 2, A. Krishnan, 21, a resident of VVCR Nagar, allegedly took the minor girl to a secluded building and assaulted her, the police said. Krishnan, who claimed to be in love with the girl, then called his friends — V. Santhosh, 25, of Manalmedu; M. Manikandan, 25, of Shastri Nagar; and Guhan, 23, of Bharathi Street, Avalpoondurai — who also allegedly assaulted her and subjected her to further physical violence.

On returning home, the survivor informed her parents, who then filed a complaint at the All Women Police Station in Erode. Following an inquiry, the police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and arrested all four accused. They were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
