HYDERABAD

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has demanded that the Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy resign as his name is mentioned in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) chargesheet in the National Herald money laundering case.

It was necessary to ensure a free a fair probe in the ongoing case, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said here on Saturday (May 24, 2025) and questioned the silence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the matter at a time when the party’s Karnataka counterparts were demanding resignation of that State’s Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar as his name was mentioned in the ED chargesheet

Addressing a press conference, he stated that the ED chargesheet had explained the modus operandi of the money transfer process followed by the Congress leaders including those who were not named as accused in the case. He reminded the Congress party that it was the Congress that had demanded resignation of the then Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa in 2020 in a corruption case pertaining to 2019.

In case Mr. Revanth Reddy was sincere and clean he must quit as the Chief Minister immediately or the Congress high command must make him quit to ensure a free and fair probe as it had demanded in case of Mr. Yediyurappa. He remarked that the secret behind Mr. Reddy’s frequent visits to Delhi was getting clear now as he was going there to please his Congress bosses as well as the bosses of BJP with a request not to file an ED case on him.

KTR alleges ‘unholy nexus’ between Congress and BJP

Mr. Rama Rao recollected that Mr. Revanth Reddy did not react when AICC leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were named accused in the National Herald case when every Congress leader was going to town criticising BJP for targeting their leaders. Mr. Reddy’s silence was to please the BJP bosses, he alleged.

He criticised the BJP leaders of Telangana too for maintaining silence on Mr. Reddy’s mention in the ED chargesheet and claimed it was due to an unholy nexus between some leaders of the two parties. He criticised the Centre for its selective targeting with the help of ED as it was protecting some Congress leaders such as Mr. Revanth Reddy, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and others.

Mr. Rama Rao cited the ED silence on Telangana Congress leaders in Valmiki scam, civil supplies, AMRUT, Kancha Gachibowli land allegations. He stated that the BRS would decide a strategy to expose the Congress leaders before people if the Centre failed to act against them in a month’s time.
