An Omni van went up in flames near the Nandyal checkpost in Kurnool city on Tuesday. The alertness of the driver prevented any casualty, however, the vehicle got completely gutted in the fire.

According to Fire Department officials, the van was heading towards Nandyal from Kurnool, when the flames erupted from the vehicle. The driver stopped the vehicle and jumped out. However, by the time the fire renders arrived at the spot, the vehicle had already gutted. Officials said that the fire might have been caused due to high temperatures or a short circuit in the wiring.
