Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer said he was, together with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, other elected representatives of the people and civil society, affirming wholehearted support to the Indian armed forces and the Central government in their mission to protect the nation from terrorism and aggression.
Addressing an inter-faith meeting at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday, Mr. Nazeer lauded the exemplary courage with which the armed forces repelled the attacks launched by Pakistan following India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, and the strategic restraint maintained by the Indian Armed Forces in their measured and non-escalatory counter-attack on the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan.
He also said he was honouring the armed forces devotion in protecting the country and that everyone should stand in solidarity with the citizens in the border States who have endured emotional and logistical hardships with inspiring resilience, and their steadfastness in the face of adversity. Mr. Naidu said ‘nation first’ should be the collective spirit in such troubling times and that terrorism was never a solution to disputes, rather it would only destabilise nations and compound their economic woes. He observed that the Pahalgam incident was not just an attack on the tourists but on the whole of India, which has never been a war – monger. India was always for peace but it would not let anyone harm its territorial integrity.
“After days of intense fighting came the good news that India and Pakistan agreed for a ceasefire upon a call by the latter. We welcome it. In the same vein, we extend our full support to whatever decisions Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes in national interests”, he added.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan has said that the people of all religions and faiths should flourish and be safe in India and that concerted efforts should be made to keep the social fabric intact amidst persistent attempts to divide the nation. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta and others were present.
