A degree student from Hyderabad was booked by IS Sadan police for allegedly making ‘hateful and inappropriate’ remarks on social media, particularly targeting India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan.

The student is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Business Administration (second year) . The college administration formally suspended her on May 8, following an internal inquiry into the contents of her Instagram story and WhatsApp messages, which the management deemed “detrimental to national interests, social harmony, and public order”, as mentioned in a letter to the student.

In her Instagram post, she allegedly shared content that was viewed as sympathetic to Pakistan and critical of India’s actions, prompting outrage and alarm among students and faculty. Screenshots of the post circulated widely on campus and across social media, leading to swift backlash and demands for disciplinary action.

According to a complaint filed by the college principal A. Srikanth Reddy, the student made further provocative statements in WhatsApp messages. He described the remarks as capable of inciting communal disharmony and disturbing public peace.

Based on the complaint, the IS Sadan police registered a case under sections 196 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

During the suspension period, the student has been barred from attending classes, participating in college activities, or accessing any campus facilities. She has also been asked to return her ID card and any college property within three days. “The matter will now be reviewed by the college’s disciplinary committee for further action,” as per the letter to the student.
