Your Galaxy Watch Could Become Your New Nutritionist

In January, Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 series during its first Unpacked event of 2025. At the time, the company teased an “Antioxidant Index” feature that would help you track your beta carotene levels. The app would use that data to offer personalized nutrition advice and help you eat better. Now, recent findings have revealed details about how the Antioxidant Index will work on your Galaxy Watch device.
Recently, tipster IposDev shared some APK files from the upcoming One UI 8 Watch update. This is the same source that gave us our first look at those new icons for Samsung smartwatches. Well, within the Samsung Health app from this One UI 8 Watch leak, Android Authority spotted some interesting strings related to the beta carotene tracker.
Antioxidant Index feature leaked from a Galaxy Watch app
According to the strings, you’ll be able to take Antioxidant Index measurements from your Galaxy Watch. The process sounds pretty simple: users will simply need to press their thumb against the back of the watch. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, there’s a good chance that this feature might be exclusive to the next-generation Galaxy Watch 8 series.
The Antioxidant Index feature will also tell you whether your readings are “adequate” or “low.” This could be a really helpful way to get a quick understanding of whether your eating habits are healthy. Anyway, Samsung Health does include an important disclaimer, reminding users that the Antioxidant Index measurements are intended for fitness/wellness purposes only and should not be used for diagnosing or treating any medical conditions. For these cases, it’s always best to consult a healthcare professional.
Samsung hasn’t officially announced which specific devices will be compatible with this feature. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Samsung will also bring this functionality to some older Galaxy Watch models beyond the Galaxy Watch 8 series. We need more details to know if the feature will require certain specific sensors.
Samsung mentioned that the Antioxidant Index would be ready sometime in the second half of 2025. More news on this will probably emerge in the coming weeks.
