First Look at Samsung’s Next Wearable UI

According to reports, Samsung might be skipping right over One UI 7 Watch and heading straight for One UI 8 Watch. The delay we’ve seen with the smartphone version of One UI 7 seems to have had a knock-on effect, leaving Galaxy Watch users waiting for that next big software update. Now, a leak has revealed what the new icons could look like on One UI 8 Watch.
Tipster IposDev took to X/Twitter to share a sneak peek at what some of Samsung’s own app icons might look like in One UI 8 Watch.
One UI Watch 8 will inherit the icons from One UI 7, but with some differences
If the icons seem familiar to you, it’s because the source indicates that these icons are largely the same as the ones we’re seeing in One UI 7 on Samsung smartphones. However, there’s a key difference for Galaxy Watch devices: these icons are expected to be round.
The icons also sport a prominent white border, likely designed to enhance contrast and improve visibility. This could be necessary in smartwatches whose screen is much smaller than that of a phone.
Back in April, Google officially announced that their Gemini AI-powered assistant would be making its way to wearables. Well, the leaked icons also give us a first look at what the Gemini icon will look like for One UI 8. It’s worth noting that some users have already received this new icon on their smartwatches. However, it still triggers the classic Google Assistant. This suggests that the groundwork is being laid for the full Gemini integration.
So, what does this all mean for your Galaxy Watch? It seems like Samsung might be gearing up for a significant software jump. The company wants to bring a fresh look and useful new features. Skipping a version could mean a more substantial update packed with improvements.
