AYUSH MHATRE, AGE: 17, RIGHT-HAND BATTER (CSK)
Just 17, Ayush Mhatre has stormed into the Chennai Super Kings lineup like the southern monsoon, refreshing a dispirited batting order. Mhatre’s fearless batting and mature shot selection marks him out as a future star. The Virar boy’s IPL journey began with CSK signing him for the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad for Rs 30 lakhs. An explosive 32 off 15 in his debut against Mumbai Indians showcased his aggressive intent. His standout performance came against Royal Challengers Bengaluru — 94 off 48, with nine fours and five sixes. Despite CSK’s struggles, Mhatre’s show offers them hope.

Who’s that IPL player?
ABISHEK POREL, AGE: 22, LEFT-HAND BATTER (DC)
Delhi Capitals’ second-highest run-scorer behind KL Rahul so far, Abishek Porel’s rise has been one of resilience, adaptability and class. Retained for a significant Rs 4 cr after a breakout 2024 season, the lefthanded wicketkeeperbatsman has justified DC’s faith in him. Standout performance came in Lucknow, with his 51 off 36 balls setting the platform for DC’s 8-wkt win over LSG. Ability to counter both pace and spin has added a new dimension to the DC top-order. Composed while opening in high-pressure situations, he has rotated strike smartly and accelerated when required.

PRIYANSH ARYA, AGE: 23, LEFT-HAND BATTER (PBKS)
A “special talent.” The Delhi youngster’s explosive batting has earned praise from Punjab Kings coach Ricky Ponting. The defining moment came with a 39-ball 103 against CSK in Mullanpur — the joint-fifth fastest century in the IPL. It featured nine sixes and seven fours, adding to his reputation as a six-hitter. Reminiscent of a left-handed Virendra Sehwag, Arya has partnered Prabhsimran Singh to be one of the most dynamic opening pairs this season. He has not only eased pressure on the middle-order but also ensured that Punjab Kings consistently maximized the Powerplay overs.

PRABHSIMRAN SINGH, AGE: 24, RIGHT-HAND BATTER (PBKS)
The diminutive opener has been the heartbeat of Punjab Kings batting lineup in the ongoing IPL. Retained as a core member, Prabhsimran has rewarded the franchise’s faith with match-winning performances. His standout knock came against LSG, a scintillating 91 off 48 balls which included six fours and seven sixes. Versatility shone during his 83-run knock against KKR. Facing Sunil Narine, he executed a stunning switch-hit six on a slow pitch. He has evolved from a Powerplay aggressor to an all-phase disruptor. With his power-hitting and flair, Prabhsimran is announcing himself as a future star.

VAIBHAV SURYAVANSHI, AGE: 14, LEFT-HAND BATTER (RR)
The 14-year-old Bihar prodigy’s rise began with a record-shattering century against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur — 101 off just 38 balls, smashing seven fours and 11 sixes to help Royals chase down 210 in 15.5 overs. It made him the youngest T20 centurion and the fastest Indian to get an IPL ton (35 balls). Suryavanshi’s innings was marked by fearless approach and audacious strokeplay, as he scored 94 runs in boundaries alone. Suryavanshi’s aggressive intent and natural flair have continued to impress, while his maturity and composure at just 14 have drawn comparisons to the one and only Sachin Tendulkar.
