Belagavi zilla panchayat launched the Dudiyonu Ba (come on, let us work) campaign in each gram panchayat on May 1 to create awareness about the MGNREGA programme.

Apart from providing general information, the campaign will take proactive steps to encourage more labourers to seek work under the rural jobs programme. It will tell the people how to apply for jobs and how to claim wages. Officers will also have the task of identifying families not covered under the scheme and registering them for unskilled work.

The aim is to ensure that all registered unskilled labourers get work for 100 days so that the trend of summer migration is reduced. Officials are expected to focus on the participation of weaker sections of families, disabled, women, and gender minorities.

Details of the MGNREGA programme are available in the local gram panchayat office.

Health camps have been organised for all the labourers who are already employed, and are working under the scheme from May 1, in all gram panchayats.

A job card verification campaign has also been organised. Officials will go door-to-door to collect family-wise information in Register 1 of the registered labourers’ list, and update the names to be added or deleted.
