Google Says Your Pixel is Too Old to Get the Battery Health Menu

Google has been working on the Battery Health menu for quite some time now. It allows you to check how much the battery has degraded over time. Apple has had this feature for its iPhones for a long time now. Google recently made it available on the Pixel 9 series and the Pixel 8a with Android 16 Beta 3. If you are wondering whether the Battery Health menu would be available on older Google Pixel phones, there’s some bad news for you.
Folks over at Android Authority recently spotted a post by Reddit user azmeen0. The post mentions that Google has replied in its Issue Tracker, saying that the Battery Health Indicator won’t be available for older Pixel devices.
Google notes, “Thank you for reporting this. The Battery Health Indicator feature is currently supported in Beta 3 on Pixel 8a and Pixel 9 products, including 9 Pro Fold. Due to product limitations, this feature will not be available on older in-market Pixel devices.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the Battery Health menu. Multiple reports from the last few years have hinted that Google has long been working on the Battery Health menu. It was only with the release of Android 16 Beta 3 that Google made it available to the beta users.
The feature might be available with the stable Android 16 update
If we go by Google’s words, the feature will only debut on the Pixel 9 series and the Pixel 8a. It’s weird to just think that smartphones like the Pixel 8 Pro won’t get this feature, even though it’s more powerful than the Pixel 8a.
If you have the Pixel 9 series phone or the Pixel 8a, wait until Google pushes the feature with the stable Android 16 update. Not to forget, Google’s latest Pixel 9a already comes with the Battery Health assistant.
