Congress on Tuesday deleted a controversial post on X after a massive controversy with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) calling the grand-old-party a supporter of Pakistan, which orchestrated the Pahalgam terrorist attack through one of its proxies.

The post portrayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a leader missing in action was slammed by the BJP, which alleged that it was a ‘sar tan se juda’ imagery and an attempt to weaken India.

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said that Congress deleted the post “under pressure” from the people of India.

“Under Pressure from people of India the Congress party deletes it’s “Sar Tan Se Juda” imagery tweet! This will not hide the Anti National Pro Pakistan Charactersitic of Congress!” Bhandari wrote on X.

The social media post of Congress came under BJP’s lens after a Pakistan’s former minister reshared the poster with hashtag “Naughty Congress”.

Reacting to the post, AICC Chairperson Social Media & Digital Platforms Supriya Shrinate said that the post was inspired by the poster of a film, ‘Gayab’, which starred Tusshar Kapoor.

“It (post) does not have PM Modi’s name. So, why does BJP feel that this is about PM Modi? Do they also accept that PM Modi is ‘Gayab’? That the PM should not have gone missing from Kashmir and gone to Bihar, that he should not have missed all-party meeting? Are they accepting that the PM should have addressed the nation? Are they accepting that one of our BSF jawans is being held captive by Pakistan and the PM is missing and not saying anything? Are they accepting that there was a major security failure and PM is missing and not speaking on it?” he said.

Congress leaders have been asked to follow the party’s line that is to back the Government of India to take action in the wake of Pahalgam terror attack. However, some Congress leaders have been speaking out of line, creating trouble for the party.

After the controversy, Congress reiterated that its guideline should be followed by all leaders and social media handles. The party said that disciplinary action will be taken against those who violate its directive.

“It is, therefore, hereby directed that all comments, statements, and representations—whether

by party leaders, spokespersons, media panelists, or official handles of the Congress Social

Media Department must strictly adhere to the CWC resolution. Any deviation,

misrepresentation, or off-the-cuff remark that diverges from the official line shall be deemed

a serious breach of party discipline,” Congress general secretary KC Venugopal wrote in a letter.
